Jaxon

4 year old Jaxon was previously healthy when he contracted Covid on April 18th, 2022 with mild symptoms. On April 27th, he had a fever and complained of a bad headache. He became delusional and severely dehydrated, and was critically ill very fast. Things turned very quickly and he was admitted to the Children’s Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit on the night of April 28th. He was diagnosed with Bacterial Meningitis. They have had to drain fluid from around his brain and run numerous tests and scans to figure out exactly how severe it is and how much recovery would follow. Jax was ventilated and put in an induced coma so that his little heart didn’t have to work so hard. But he’s a fighter and in very good hands at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

On May 25, Jax went in for his 4th surgery. They did remove the VP shunt on the right side a few days prior in hopes that the pressure would go down and the fluid would drain. Unfortunately the left ventricle is still very inflamed and there is still too much fluid to drain.

Jax is still in the hospital today and has a long road ahead of him. Our hearts are with him and his family in this scary time.
